College Reopening Date and Exam Replacements
There will be an amended set of Covid protocols for the reopening – including the use of testing and face coverings. We will send out a set of instructions to all students next week.
Please do contact us if you have any concerns about attending the college in person. As we are an independent sixth form, attendance is not mandatory, and students are able to continue lessons online on request. It may also be that some tutors are not able to attend in person due to health risks. We ask that all parents, staff and students show understanding and flexibility – the priority is the safety and welfare of all members of the college.
Later this week, likely on Thursday, we are expecting an announcement about the summer exam replacements. As per the consultation document, we as a college will be awarding grades, possibly using assessment materials made available by the exam boards. From what we understand, there will be no formal exams as such, and the assessment period will continue to include much of the summer term. We will forward the guidance as soon as it is published.
Beginning next week, we will be arranging meetings with all students and parents to discuss your individual situations regarding the exam replacements and how best to build a portfolio of evidence. These meetings will likely continue through until the end of the term on 26th March and will be online for safety reasons.
Please do get in contact if you have questions about any of the above.
We look forward to seeing our students back in the college soon!
